On June 28th Mayor Nutter vetoed the Philadelphia Earned Sick Days Bill. This bill passed City Council on June 16th. Despite a majority of Council and over 70% of Philadelphian’s supporting this bill the Mayor vetoed it. This bill would have given over 210,000 Philadelphians without a single sick day the opportunity to earn paid sick days.
WHEN: Wednesday, July 6th 12:00
WHERE: Free Speech Zone on Independence Mall at 5th and Market Streets (Tentative)
We are asking supporters to come out and show their independence from the Mayor’s decision and help us ask members of City Council to show that independence in voting for an override of the veto at the next Council Session in the fall.
Bring signs, tell your friends, and come out to help us show the Mayor and City Council the support for this important bill. Let them know we disagree with the Mayor’s decision and Philadelphia’s workers need earned sick days.
